As the world marks World Skin Health Day on July 8, this year’s theme, “Better Knowledge, Better Skin Health, highlights the importance of understanding the factors that contribute to healthy skin. While skincare may provide essential support in protecting the skin from external stressors such as pollution, how you choose to nourish your body is equally important for maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Following a balanced diet that provides essential nutrients, includes skin-friendly foods such as California Almonds, whole grains, plant and animal protein, and is complemented by an active lifestyle can contribute to healthy skin and overall wellbeing.
Nutrients play an important role in supporting your skin’s barrier, integrity, and functioning. California Almonds are one such superfood that is naturally nutrient-dense, providing 24 nutrients, including B vitamins, zinc, copper, and essential linoleic acid, which together help protect cells and contribute to skin structure. They are also rich in vitamin E, which helps protect skin cells from oxidative damage and fight dryness. Include them alongside protein-rich foods and leafy vegetables to build a diet plan that helps support healthy, radiant skin.
Commenting on how taking care of your skin means being knowledgeable about what you consume, Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head of Dietetics, Max Healthcare – New Delhi, said,“What you put into your body is often reflected in your skin. That's why I encourage my clients to focus on the lifestyle habits that support healthy skin from within. A balanced diet, adequate sleep, regular physical activity, and proper hydration are key for nourishing your skin and body. A few foods I recommend my clients include in their diet are fresh fruits, lean meats, and sources of healthy fats like California Almonds. Rich in Vitamin E and biotin, California Almonds support healthy skin and hair and can easily be enjoyed on their own or incorporated into meals, making them a practical choice for busy lives.”
Sheela Krishnaswamy, Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, added, “Healthy skin is not built overnight. It is the result of informed food choices and other lifestyle improvements made over time. One example is having a handful of almonds in the morning. They supply vitamin E, a nutrient that can help with skin pigmentation and repair, and can be paired with items such as chia seed puddings, acai bowls, oats or ragi porridge, and more to kickstart your day. Such small, consistent dietary choices can go a long way in improving skin health over time.”
Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan shared, “As an actor, I am always under the spotlight, which means taking care of my skin is a priority. Hence, I try to follow a lifestyle that makes me and my skin feel their best. My meals are usually high-protein and include a variety of fruits and vegetables. I prioritise sleep while also following a dedicated workout routine. I always remember to stay hydrated and control my cravings for processed foods by choosing healthy alternatives like California Almonds, light salads, or roasted makhana that are great for my skin and keep my energy up on hectic days.
With better knowledge, we can make mindful decisions that best support our skin's health. This World Skin Health Day,let us take a holistic approach in understanding what our skin truly needs and make informed choices, such as including California Almonds in our diet, that contribute to healthy skin and overall well-being.
