Labour Ministry ties up with Cygnus Ujala to enhance employability in healthcare sector


On November 8, 2024, the Ministry of Labour & Employment of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cygnus Ujala Group in a ceremony attended by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and MoL&E Secretary Sumita Dawra. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing employment opportunities, particularly in the healthcare sector, through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

The MoU aims to leverage the NCS portal to Improve job accessibility in the healthcare sector. It signifies the first instance of a healthcare group associating directly with the NCS, aiming to enhance job listings for healthcare professionals. The agreement is initially set for two years and includes provisions for Cygnus Ujala Group and its staffing agencies to regularly post job vacancies on the NCS portal and participate in job fairs at Model Career Centers (MCCs) across India.

Focus on Inclusivity: The MoU emphasizes creating inclusive employment opportunities, particularly targeting women and diverse candidates. This is intended to widen the pool of talent available in the healthcare sector, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted that the NCS portal has witnessed substantial growth, supporting over 35 lakh registered employers and more than 1.10 crore active job seekers as of October 2024. The MoU is expected to significantly increase healthcare job listings on the NCS, with projections of approximately 25 lakh job openings created through various partnerships, including those with Amazon and TMI Group.

The partnership with Cygnus Ujala Group represents a strategic move to bolster employment accessibility and fortify the healthcare workforce in India, aiming to ensure that job seekers have ample opportunities to connect with potential employers in the sector.
