Indian Coal production from captive, blocks rises 32% to 79.72 mn MT


The Ministry of Coal reported that Coal production and dispatch from India’s captive and commercial coal mines experienced substantial growth in the first half of fiscal year 2024-25 (H1 FY 2025), showcasing significant year-over-year increases. Production Increase: The total coal production rose by 32%, climbing from 60.52 million tonnes (MT) in H1 of FY 2024 to 79.72 MT in H1 of FY 2025.

Dispatch Growth: Corresponding to production, dispatch also grew significantly, with a 34% increase from 65.37 MT in H1 FY 2024 to 87.86 MT in H1 FY 2025. Monthly Trends: Specifically, in September 2024, coal production recorded a 32% growth from 10.40 MT in September FY 2024 to 13.74 MT in September FY 20251. Dispatch during the same month showed an even more pronounced increase of 47%, rising from 9.68 MT to 14.27 MT.
