Indore created a world record by planting 11 lakh saplings in a day

Indore on Sunday created a new Guinness World Record in the category of “Most trees planted by a team in 24 hours” by planting over 1.1 million saplings. The Chief Minister said that Indore, which is already India’s cleanest city and Madhya Pradesh’s economic capital, has now achieved the world record of planting over 1.1 million saplings in a single day.

The event was organised by the state government. Sharing the Guinness World Record certificate and photos of him receiving it in a post on his official Instagram account, he said, “Indore is now No. 1 in the world. My brothers and sisters of Indore, I congratulate all of you for creating history in tree plantation after cleanliness drive.” Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign and planted a sapling. The “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Under this campaign, around 140 crore saplings will be planted across the country, of which 55 million will be planted in Madhya Pradesh, which Shah described as the 'lungs of India'. Officials said that 51 lakh saplings will be planted during this campaign in Indore, which has been recognized as the country's cleanest city for many years according to the Swachh Survey.
