Highway projects launched in Shivamogga, Karnataka with a total investment of Rs 6,168 crore


Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 18 National Highway projects with a total investment of Rs 6,168 crore in Shivamogga, Karnataka. The Bhanapur Gaddankeri section provides easy access to historical sites like Hampi, Aihole, Pattadakallu and Badami while improving connectivity to the mining and industrial hubs of Bellary and Hospet. The Ankola-Guti section, via Hubli city, connects to the largest APMC in North Karnataka and the Sri Siddharudha Matha pilgrimage site. Arbel to Idagundi section strengthens connectivity to Karwar and Mangaluru ports.

The Vijaypur section from the Maharashtra border to Kalyan promotes the industrial development of Karnataka, connecting the sugar industries of Vijaypur and the cement areas of Mirian, Chincholi and Kalaburagi. Bellary bypass reduces congestion and the Bellary to Byrapura section improves interstate connectivity. The stretch from Mudigere to Chikkamagaluru gives rise to the agriculture and pilgrimage sites of Malnad.
