AICTE Chairman inaugurated ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ student exchange initiative at LPU

* Occasion was the opening ceremony of ‘AKAM-EBSB’, under the Ministry of Education initiative, and welcoming the “paired state”-Andhra Pradesh’s students at LPU campus

* 52 students from different institutions of Andhra Pradesh are at LPU Campus for five days

* Purpose is to strengthen the unity and integrity of India by learning and imbibing a lot about the culture, customs and history of the other state

Being selected as a ‘Sender’ and ‘Receiver’ university by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for its flagship programme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (AKAM-EBSB) student exchange initiative in Punjab; Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized opening ceremony, today, to welcome the 52 students of different institutions of Andhra Pradesh at its campus.

Prof Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, the Chairman of the apex body of technical education in India –AICTE (All India Council for Technology Education) was the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony. Addressing the visiting students and all other present on the occasion, virtually, highlighted that the learning outside the classrooms is many times more important for a student as it adds to ethics and values by sensing the things on mixing with other people of diverse nature and culture.

Congratulating Andhra students to be at multi-cultural dynamic institution LPU in Punjab, AICTE Chairman invoked them to gain much about chivalry, nobility, music, mirth, cuisines, saints, soldiers, singers of the state by visiting related places and meeting concerned persons. Prof Sahasrabudhe also thanked LPU management for being a great part of the programme of national integration.

Highlighting, under the scheme of the government, the state of Andhra Pradesh is paired with Punjab state for student exchange initiative. As a sender university, LPU had already sent its students to an institution in Visakhapatnam. This helped LPU students to get a substantial idea of the diverse cultural heritage through various socio-economic and literary factors existing in Andhra Pradesh. Now the Andhra students are at LPU with a purpose to strengthen the unity and integrity of India by learning and imbibing a lot about the culture, customs and history of the other state.

On this occasion, Member Secretary, AICTE, Prof Rajive Kumar; Adviser to AICTE Dr Ravinder Kumar Soni; Deputy Director M G Vamsi Krishna; LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal and other prominent delegates of AICTE, staff and faculty members of various participating Andhra Pradesh institutions and LPU were present to witness the ceremony. Thanking the Ministry of Education and AICTE for believing in LPU for the national task, Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal informed visitors about the rich diversity at LPU campus, and invoked them to imbibe the continuous progress as existing at the campus through oneness in various forms.

Worth mentioning, the initiative ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Since then, through this innovative measure, the knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states & UTs is leading to an enhanced understanding and bonding for strengthening the unity and integrity of India.
