Mom’s belief Milestones celebrated their 11th anniversary at CSIR Science Centre. Taking care of a special child requires special attention! Mom’s belief Milestones shares the same thought and has been working to achieve the highest level of Functional Independent skills for the children with special needs.
The event started with a pleasant welcome note by the kids themselves, followed by various astounding performances. They may have speech problems but the way they captured the tone and rhythm of the music was incredible. The little ones not only danced on thriving Bollywood numbers but also sang poetic rhymes and songs. They suffer from sensory issues related to touch and feel of the fabric, yet adapted wearing cute little costumes, to complete their look.
Several stalls were set up for snacks and games, in which all the kids were encouragedto take part. Taking the enjoyment forward, some sports events were also organized for the children. The effort was to allow the kids with ‘coordination related challenges’ to participate than to seek perfection.
“These kids are very sensitive. In the mainstream world they don’t get much opportunities to be a part of a competitive field, thus, when they receive an award for something they did, it not only boosts their confidence but give them a sense of accomplishment”, said Ms. Amrapali Lahiri, Head of Milestone, Delhi.
The programme came to an end with children and happy families exiting with little palms full of rewards, gifts and medals around their neck.
